Types of cargo transported
Recently, cargo transportation from Poland has entered the top ten most popular directions of international transportation. Basically, 5 product groups are imported to Russia. The most common types of transportation are vehicles, equipment and machinery. In second place is the delivery of chemical industry products. Then comes the transportation of agricultural raw materials and food products, then timber and pulp and paper products. In fifth place is the delivery of metal products. The remaining groups of goods account for a total of less than 10% of transportation. Currently, there is a decrease in the number of deliveries of consolidated cargo from Poland, including agricultural raw materials and food, while the share of imports of engineering products is increasing.
Features of cargo transportation from Poland
In most cases, transit traffic from Poland occurs in the CIS countries. The volume of transportation from Poland using road transport exceeds the volume of other types of deliveries. The total length of roads is 380,000 km. Highways are laid across the country, used for the delivery of consolidated cargo from Eastern Europe to Western Europe.
The length of the railway network is 25,000 km. However, rail freight transportation is rarely used due to the need for reloading at border stations, which is associated with differences in railway gauge standards. In rare cases, consolidated cargo from Poland is sent by sea or air.
Types of transportation
Road transportation of goods. The transportation time for non-modular cargo is no more than 7 days, provided that the goods are sent from Moscow. For transportation we use vans and refrigerators. Cargo consignments are formed in warehouses in Germany, the Czech Republic and the Baltic countries. Delivery of consolidated cargo to Poland takes about 14 days, since there is an insufficient number of consolidation warehouses in the country.
Sea transportation of goods. Cargo transportation by sea is carried out through the ports of Gdansk, Szczecin, and Gdynia. Delivery of cargo to Poland takes more than 14 days. The cargo is transported to one of the Russian northern ports, for example, in St. Petersburg, and then, if necessary, the products are transported to other cities.
